Jackson Man Turns Self In After Sexual Battery Allegations

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Jackson police have charged a man with aggravated assault and sexual battery by an authority figure involving a former employee. Nathan Carlton, 20, of Jackson, surrendered at 4 a.m. Monday and was arraigned in Jackson City Court at 8 a.m. He was released from the Madison County Jail at 10:30 a.m. after posting $7,500 bond. Carlton’s next scheduled court appearance is 9:30 a.m. on June 12 in City Court. On May 2, a 26-year-old woman told police that she had recently begun working as a receptionist for Vector Marketing, at 364 North Parkway. Soon after the woman started, Carlton displayed inappropriate behavior toward her. Investigators learned that on April 29, Carlton, who was the woman’s supervisor, had placed his hands around her neck and choked her. Another incident occurred on May 1 when Carlton inappropriately touched the woman in a sexual manner. The woman resigned and reported the incidents to police. Investigators signed a warrant for Carlton’s arrest on May 6, and police had been searching for him.
