Gas Prices Lower for Memorial Day Travelers

JACKSON, Tenn.- Good news for Memorial Day weekend travelers as gas prices will be down slightly. The bad news may be the traffic. An estimated 36.1 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles this holiday weekend, according to Triple-A. Of that figure 31.8 million will travel by car and will likely enjoy gas prices that are projected to be the same, or slightly less, than they were last year. Some drivers still are not happy. “Right now, still a little too high for me. If they can get back to the $1.98 cents that would be great,” said traveler Laquis Herpirtle. According to gasbuddy.com, Nationally prices are at $3.62 a gallon. with the average price in Tennessee is $3.42.
