Local Women Hold “Taste of the South” to Raise Money

SOUTH JACKSON — Taste testers were in for a treat Saturday afternoon as they got samples of different sweets and goodies. A group of 30 women who say they work together, came up with “Taste of the South” to raise money for Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. The fundraiser was at Malesus Methodist Church. People who bought tickets got to taste food and drinks from multiple vendors. Some of the women say they have children and relatives who went to Le Bonheur. “We just wanted to help the children at Le Bonheur cause you know, they need help you know cause Le Bonheur does a lot of charity and stuff,” Susan Renfro said, an organizer for the event. The women also held a silent auction, bake sale and kids day out Saturday. They say they hope to have the event again next year.
