SHILOH, Tenn. — Hundreds come out to honor service men and women Memorial Day weekend at Shiloh National Military Park. The park began their series of events with a timeline to remember America’s soldiers. Reenactors, a Vietnam veteran and even an active soldier lined the park to remember wars dating back to the civil war, all the way up until today’s war in Afghanistan. Park workers say it’s a message that should be remembered throughout the year. “So Memorial Day means a lot to us because these men who fell on this ground are for the most part still here and that is Confederate and Union,” Chris Mekow said, a Shiloh Park Ranger. The celebration doesn’t stop Saturday; the park says they will host events on both Sunday and Monday.
