JPD: Two Overnight Shootings Send Two to Hospital

JACKSON, Tenn. — Two separate shootings in Jackson put two men in the hospital overnight Saturday. Police say one victim was a teen, and the other a 33 year-old who is now behind bars. Twice overnight, Jackson Police said gunshot victims showed up at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. The first victim, a 17 year-old, told police he was shot in the leg on Hollywood Drive standing outside his apartment complex. Police said the teen didn’t know who shot him and refused to answer any more questions. Officers came to JMCGH a second time overnight to respond to 33 year-old Jonathan Bond. Bond told officers a man shot him on North Hayes Street. He had multiple gunshot wounds to his legs. The 33 year-old Milan resident was released from the hospital only to be taken by police to the Madison County Jail after officers realized he had an active warrant from May 22 out for his arrest. This was after he had previously pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and carrying of a weapon. After searching Bond’s clothing, officers found 2.5 grams of crack cocaine. Residents said they’re tired of seeing the blue lights in their neighborhood. “Idle time is the devil’s workshop. If you don’t have a good time doing something worth while, you’re gonna do something that’s not worthwhile, which is getting in trouble or pulling a trigger,” said area resident Brenda Gander. Officers don’t believe the shootings are connected. Bond will be arraigned Tuesday in Jackson City Court for drug possession. A date has not been set for him to appear in circuit court for the warrant. If you have any information you think can help in the cases, call Jackson Police or Crimestoppers.
