City of Jackson to Renovate East Jackson Park

EAST JACKSON — One of the Hub City’s most historic parks is getting a face lift after more than 30 years. The City of Jackson broke ground Tuesday at Forest Hill Park. Members of the city council say the park will get a new entrance and new pavement for a drive through. Workers will also resurface the basketball courts, put in new nets, new restrooms and refurbish the playground. There will also be new lights for safety purposes. “The park is safe, our commanders of our police department in this district has ensured us it’s going to be safe with proper lighting,” Harvey Buchanan said, a Jackson City Councilman. City leaders say construction will start in two weeks. The new park costs $211,000. During construction, the playground and baseball field will remain open but certain parts will be restricted. The entire park will open in 60 days.
