DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The prosecution rested its case Thursday morning in the criminal trial of former Madison County sheriff David Woolfork. During day three of the trial, Woolfork took the stand and testified about his relationship with Deputy Sharon Sangster and the night of the alleged attack, Oct. 10, 2013. While testifying, Woolfork told the jury he had an affair with Sangster, but denies putting his hands on her on Oct. 10 outside of a hug. Woolfork says on that night, Sangster took one of his phones, and when he got it back, his company phone then went missing. Woolfork says while he was searching for the second phone, Jackson police and Constable Frankie Lax showed up at Sangster’s home. An investigator with the Jackson Police Department showed pictures of Sangster to the jury. In the photos, Sangster appears to have bruised arms and legs and a broken finger nail. Woolfork is still on the stand. The defense told the court they plan to call six or seven witnesses. WBBJ will have continuing coverage of the trial. Stay with us for continuing updates.
