John Mehr Launches Campaign for Madison Co. Sheriff

JACKSON, Tenn. — John Mehr officially kicked off his campaign for Madison County Sheriff Tuesday evening. He greeted some of the hundreds of folks who came out to the Providence House in the Casey Jones Village. Mehr, who is the former Special Agent in Charge for the TBI in West Tennessee is running as a Republican. He told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News he looks forward to making positive changes in the department. “We can change this whole environment by working with all the community all the other departments around and it’s very important to make this the best department that West Tennessee has got to offer,” Mehr said. Mehr is running against former Jackson Police Chief Rick Staples, who Is running as an Independent. The election is August 7.
