Youth Fishing Rodeo Held at Muse Park

EAST JACKSON — Some of the area’s youngest fishers pulled out their bait and rods for the annual Youth Fishing Rodeo. Jackson and Madison County Recreation Departments held the 6th year of the event at Muse Park Saturday. The kids competed in different age groups, where they weighed their fish for the winning title. Families were given free food and drinks and while some of the contestants were hoping to learn, others wanted to redeem themselves from last year. “I’m looking and trying to see can I fish today because last year I ain’t catch nothing,” Mycalmeshel Ragland, a fishing contestant, said. “I kinda wanna win but I’m just out here to have fun,” Ayanna Albright added, another fishing contestant. This event was part of a free fishing event for children that lasted all weekend.
