JACKSON, Tenn. — Residents in East Jackson are concerned for their safety after shootings break out Thursday night. Montorico Gill said had it been an ordinary night, he would probably be dead right now. He says bullets were shot behind his house on East End Street, pierced through his walls, through his shower, and into the hallway closet. “It was scary cause you never know, plus bullets don’t have eyes so had I came home like I normally do, I would’ve been in that shower around the time and that bullet would have hit me,” Gill said. Erlie Mayo lives next door to the house that got shot into Thursday night, injuring four people. “A lot of gunshots shooting in the street and when I came outside, the police had come up,” Mayo said. She says she is in shock this would happen on her street. “The girl got shot in the head and the little baby got fractured. It scared me a whole lot it really does,” Mayo said. Gill says people need to take this violence and use it for something positive. “Since you want to do all of this shooting, why not go shoot for a cause or a good cause or reason. Since you like guns, why not go fight a war or something like that,” Gill said. Police are still searching for suspects in this shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 731-424-TIPS or the Jackson Police Department.
