Judge sets $250,000 bond for man arrested in Walmart beating death

DYERSBURG, Tenn. — The man accused of beating a Mississippi native to death in a parking lot appeared in court on Monday afternoon. Jeffery Miller, 23, was arraigned on an aggravated assault charge Monday after Dyersburg police say he beat a man in the Walmart parking lot during the early hours of June 12. Miller is now facing the possibility upgraded charges after the victim, Ricky Fortune, 50, died from his injuries. The question now is if the punch caused Fortune’s death. Miller’s bond was set to $250,000, and his preliminary hearing is set for Friday at 9 a.m.
