Identities released of 2 teens who drowned
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A sheriff has released the identities of two 13-year-old boys who drowned at Cummins Falls State Park.
The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1nPmvmM) reports D’Donta Gray and KeyVonte Cunningham, both of Nashville, drowned Friday. Sheriff Brad Stafford says more details will be released after police receive autopsy reports.
Kelly Brockman, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, has said divers recovered the bodies on Saturday.
The boys were part of a group of 39 children who went to the park with Backfield in Motion, a Nashville-based group that works with inner-city children.
The park in Jackson County features Cummins Falls, a 75-foot waterfall located on the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River.
The deaths remain under investigation by the Department of Children’s Services, state park police and Jackson County police.
