No bond for pair charged in beating death of Jackson man

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The pair accused of beating a man to death and injuring his girlfriend during a June attack were officially charged on Friday morning. Christopher Minor and Frederick J. Booth, both of Jackson, are being held without bond after police say they beat Rico Swift, 31, to death in his apartment on the night of June 8. Swift’s girlfriend was also injured and knocked unconscious during the attack. She told police when she woke up, she discovered the suspects took money and drugs belonging to Swift. Both Minor and Booth are facing the charge of Felony Murder in Perpetration of Especially Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Assault. According to court records, Booth was on probation for resisting arrest, and Minor was on parole for residential burglary. Both of them were appointed a private attorney during their arraignment. They will be back in court on June 26 at 9:30 a.m. Police are still searching for more suspects in connection to the crime.
