HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — An inmate who escaped from the Henderson County jail is back behind bars along with his girlfriend. Sheriff Brian Duke says David Pullam escaped around 4:00 PM Saturday afternoon with the help from one other person. Deputies believe that person was his girlfriend, 40-year-old Sandra Elkins. Officials say Pullam was with her when he left the jail. Elkins is also behind bars, charged with permitting or facilitating escape Pullam was captured just before 10:00 Saturday night but deputies did not say where he was caught. Pullam was jailed for aggravated robbery and aggravated assault along with serving an 11 month and 29 day sentence for DUI. Residents say they are relieved deputies captured Pullam so quickly. “[It’s] good they caught him very quickly, you know, cause he could cause more damage you know, the longer he stayed out,” Randal Baldwin said, a visitor at the jail. Deputies did not say if Pullam faces new charges from the escape. Elkins’ bond has not been set. She will appear in court July 1.
