Utility Customers Offer Advice on Saving Money on their BIll

JACKSON, Tenn.- Summer is here and so is the heat! So how can you stay cool without blowing your budget on your utility bill? In a recent poll, 39 percent of homeowners said they are willing to strip down to their undies to avoid spending additional money on cooling their home. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News caught up with some Jackson residents who have their own plan of attack for beating the summer heat. “(I) drink a cold sweet tea or a coke or something and stay in my shorts and try to stay as cool as I can,” said Adrian Ward, an energy saver. “I just always stay hydrated and drink a bunch of water and get rest when i need it,” said Anna Stelle, who also does what she can to save energy. Homeowners can save as much as 1 percent on their energy bill for each degree the thermostat is raised. Experts also said a few improvements to appliances that are used year-round can also result in a sizable decrease in monthly bills.
