Beaten inmate remains hospitalized

DOWNTOWN JACKSON, Tenn. – The inmate severely beaten inside the Madison County Jail over the weekend remains hospitalized at a Nashville hospital, Tuesday. According to Lt. Harold Petty, with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Frederick Booth is receiving care in the Trauma Unit. He suffered internal injuries. Jail staff said Booth was injured in a fight with several inmates, Friday night. At the time, jailers said he appeared to only suffer a small cut and refused medical care. Supervisors said on Saturday, a jailer received a call from a family member of Booth saying he was hurt and needed help. Both was airlifted to a Nashville hospital. Investigators said Booth refused to tell him who attacked him Friday night. No one has been charged in his beating. Swift is jailed on several counts in connection with the homicide of Rico Swift. Jackson police found him beaten to death inside his east Jackson home, June 8.
