NAACP Holds First of Two Candidate Forums

JACKSON, Tenn.-The NAACP held its first of two candidates forums Monday night. Candidates from eight Madison County races were invited to the NAACP’s downtown Jackson offices. Each were given three minutes to address the crowd, telling a little bit about themselves and why they are running for office. Then a two-person panel asked questions for up to five minutes. Among the candidates present Monday night were the two men vying for Jackson City Judge. “I enjoy helping people. I am in the helping profession. Brooks and Anderson, who is the incumbent will square off in the general election on August 7. Also on that ballot, the race for Circuit Court Judge, Division Three. “I spent the last 18 years practicing law. 95 percent of my practice has been based in circuit court trying both criminal and civic court cases all over West Tennessee, so I think I will have the ability to bring the good parts and the bad parts,” said Kyle Atkins, candidate for Circuit Court Judge. “I will try to continue doing what I have been doing for the last 2 years which is to run the court with efficiency run the court with fairness bring my integrity bring my fairness to that court,” said Circuit Court Judge Nathan Pride.
