Jailer accused of insurance fraud, theft maintains innocence

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.- The Madison County jailer accused of lying about an on the job injury posts $2,500 bond Tuesday afternoon. As WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News told you, Deputy Saundra Bundy was indicted Monday on counts of insurance fraud and theft. Investigators said she lied when she reported in May she was injured while working at the Madison County jail. Tuesday, WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News talked with her attorney who said Bundy’s injury was not the result of a single incident. “She says that part of her job as a jailer at the Madison County jail includes shutting very heavy doors, that she regularly, repeatedly had to shut the doors and that shutting the doors injured her shoulder,” Michael Weinman said, Bundy’s attorney. The 47-year-old has been suspended without pay. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Monday.
