Preliminary hearing set for accused kidnapper

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A preliminary hearing was set on Wednesday for a man accused of kidnapping a teen at knife-point. Ma’quarious Cathey was arraigned on aggravated assault, evading arrest and reckless driving charges in Henderson County Court on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Cathey’s preliminary hearing was set for July 8 at 1 p.m. Investigators say during the early morning hours of June 23, Cathey kidnapped a 16-year-old at knife-point in the parking lot of Walmart in Oakland. Investigators say the victim, who was not hurt, did not know Cathey. He is currently being held at Henderson County Jail on $250,000 bond.
