Case headed to grand jury for man accused of throwing incendiary device at bar

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The case of the man accused of throwing two Molotov cocktails at a Jackson bar was bound over the grand jury on Thursday. Matthew Benjamin Andrzejewski’s next court date will be Oct. 10. He is still being held at Criminal Justice Complex on $30,000 bond for the aggravated arson charge. In June, employees of The Emporium Bar & Lounge told police they saw a someone throw two Molotov cocktails at the building. A Molotov cocktail is an improvised incendiary device. The devices caused a fire, but employees were able to extinguish it quickly with some water. The suspect fled on foot but was arrested a short distance away. The damage to the building was not severe. According to police, Andrzejewski had been inside the lounge earlier in the evening and was escorted out because of his disruptive behavior towards other patrons. He came back a few hours later and threw the Molotov cocktails at the building. He’s charged with Aggravated Arson as the building was occupied at the time.
