HENDERSON CO., Tenn. — A Henderson Co. man is behind bars Wednesday after deputies say he walked into his neighbor’s home uninvited and made sexual advances to a child. Captain Tracey Grisham told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that Michael Hottman, 54, reportedly walked into the home on Stormwood Lane, handed a 12-year-old a pair of her own underwear, then explicitly described his naked body all before asking her to come over to his house. “It’s a case that really bothers me due to the nature of it,” Grisham said. The girl and her young brother were home alone at the time while their mother was working. The victim’s mother, who does not want to be identified, said she is horrified at Hottman’s words. “It’s something a mother doesn’t want to hear that a grown man said to their 12-year-old daughter,” she said. Deputies said the girl was able to call for help after screaming at Hottman to leave. He fled the home before deputies arrived. Investigators are unsure how Hottman had the girls underwear in his possession. “He’s obviously been in our house and us not known about it,” the victim’s mother said. Hottman is charged with aggravated burglary and solicitation of a minor. His bond was set at $100,000. Hottman will be back in court next Tuesday.
