LAKE COUNTY, Tenn. — The woman accused of eating marijuana during a traffic stop was in court on Thursday morning. Miracle Pounds, 35, was arrested after officers say they found marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the car during a traffic stop. Pounds was also charged with tampering with evidence after officers say she tried eating marijuana as officers searched her car. Pounds is free on a $75,000 bond. She is facing possession of schedule II methamphetamine, possession of schedule VI marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia charges. Derek Newman, who was arrested after investigators executed a search warrant in connection to Pounds’ traffic stop, was also in court. Newman, 31, has his bond lowered from $20,000 to $1,000. Newman’s charge of unlawful possession of a weapon has been dropped, but he is still being charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Pound said she plans to hire her own attorney. Both are scheduled to appear in court again on July 31.
