HUMBOLDT, Tenn — One man is dead and another man is in custody and facing a murder charge after a stabbing early Friday morning. Jason Collins, 29, is charged with first-degree murder after police say he repeatedly stabbed Matt Williams, 25 at the West Haven Mobile Home Park. An eyewitness who wanted to remain anonymous told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the trouble started when Collins accused Williams, a friend, of stealing his bike. “I walked over and the guy was on the ground,” the witness said. “He had been stabbed. You could see the blood and I called the ambulance and the cops.” “It’s hard to take,” Raymond Collins said, the father of the man charged. “I can’t get any sleep and I feel for the other family.” Collins says he’s distraught after learning his son is accused of stabbing and killing one of his friends. “Look what happened,” Collins said. “A family has lost their son and I’m probably going to lose mine.” Williams was pronounced dead at the Humboldt Medical Center, and neighbors say he will be missed. “He was a good kid,” a witness said. “I mean, he’d been out here a couple years. He tired to be friends with everybody.” Collins is currently being held by Humboldt Police on $500,000 bond.
