Petition filed to allow wine sales in grocery stores

JACKSON, Tenn. — The push to allow wine sales in grocery stores seem to be making some progress as we head toward the November election. According to Madison County Election Administrator Kim Buckley, Kroger has filed a 114 page petition to get the question on the November ballot. The petition has about 1,500 signatures. The election commission is working to verify all signatures are from registered Jackson voters. 1,682 signatures are needed to get the measure before the voters in November. Petitions have to be turned in by August 21.
