EAST JACKSON — A Hub City arena known for basketball was full of athletes competing for ribbons and recognition on Friday. Oman Arena was turned into a venue for a number of events as the city of Jackson Recreation and Parks Department hosted its annual summer youth Olympics. Summer campers competed against each other in the three-hour friendly competition. “We want them to just keep moving no matter what they’re going, stay active and don’t just sit and watch TV,” Bridgett Parham said, with the Recreation and Parks Department. Organizers say each team came from their respective camps throughout the city and they practiced to prepare for the competition.
