Neighbors shaken after daytime shooting

JACKSON, Tenn. — Tracewood Cove residents say they are still shaken after a Thursday afternoon shooting that left one man in the hospital, another behind bars and a third gunman still on the loose. “It’s very scary. I have a child of my own and I get tired of when a shooting happens, I have to drop to the floor,” one Tracewood Cove resident said who wished to remain anonymous. Police say this is not a random shooting. “The 20-year-old man…lives in the area,” Jackson Police Captain Tyreece Miller said. “So it’s not like there were people coming into that area and causing problems.” Police say Thursday’s shooting began with an argument between the 20-year-old, whose name is not being released at this time, and 18-year-old Carlnelius Williams of Bolivar. “Mr. Williams starts firing at him and he falls to the ground and once he falls, Mr. Williams actually comes over and stands over him and actually shoots him several more times while he’s over him,” Capt. Miller said. Neighbors say the two men knew each other. Jackson police are looking for an unknown third gunman, who they say shot Williams. Police say they suspect Williams is being uncooperative and knows the possible third gunman.
