East Jackson residents want to bring healthier options to area

EAST JACKSON, Tenn–For the first time, Marshall’s East Jackson Farmers Market brought fresh vegetables and home made sweets to the neighborhood. Members of two local organizations say they wanted to make more fresh foods available to the residents in the area They hope this will mean more Jackson’s are making their meals healthier. As well as supporting local farmers.”We hope to be here every weekend as long as our stuff last…like i said we’ll have some more corn coming in and some peas coming in…hopefully have something for the next 5 or 6 weeks,” said Floyd Marshall, who brought in the produce from his farm. Available foods will vary by season.Right now, okra, peas, corn and tomatoes are all part of the selection. The market is on the corner of Lane Ave. and Whitehall St.
