Former USJ employee pleads guilty to fraud charges

JACKSON, Tenn. — A former University School of Jackson employee pleaded guilty to charges stemming from stealing funds from the school on Wednesday. Jessica Nicole Pinkerton, 33, is facing one count of wire fraud and one count of tax fraud. According to the investigation, Pinkerton — a financial services manager at USJ — transferred the school’s funds into her personal bank account from 2009 to 2014. It was said in court that Pinkerton also lied to the IRS and stated her earned income was $29,321 when it actually was $195,689.71. Pinkerton took a plea deal and will owe restitution of $606,375.33 to USJ and $143,168.37 to the IRS. She faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and three years supervised release. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 23.
