Investigators say man’s severe cutting wounds were self-inflicted

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — A man found severely cut in his car last weekend was attempting suicide, investigators say. A 50-year-old man was found in the parking lot of Mega-Mart on North Parkway on Saturday around 1:15 p.m with serious cuts to his body . Investigators learned the man had driven to a remote area outside the city limits then cut and stabbed himself several times in a suicide attempt. When his injuries were not fatal, he drove himself to the Mega-Mart for help. He was transported by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Police have notified the man’s family of the circumstances to ensure he receives mental health services.
