EAST MADISON COUNTY — Rose Hill Middle School in East Madison County is using the last few weeks of summer to help new students prepare for life as a middle school student. On Wednesday, Rose Hill hosted a transition camp for incoming 6th graders. The students get the chance to tour the school and ask questions they have. Wednesday morning students walked through the building and were reminded about the district’s dress code and were given the chance to learn about having to change classrooms each period. “They’ll have 6 or 7 classes, they’ll have 6 or 7 teachers and it’s just a whole different ball game for them,” Leslea Robertson said, a Rose Hill teacher. “So we want them to get used to being in the middle school setting.” Teachers say about 30 students participated. This is the second year of the camp.
