HENRY CO., Tenn.– Henry County deputies say the inmate who attempted to escape from jail this week is now facing even more charges. Deputies say Lonnie Singleton, who was originally charged with one count of burglary and theft, is responsible for multiple other thefts around the county. “If I had to estimate, I would say it was around 5 to 7 thousand dollars,” Investigator David Doyle said. Singleton attempted to escape from jail Wednesday while he was being booked in. He only made it a few steps out an unlocked door, before being tased by deputies. After being placed back in custody, investigators say he admitted to several other thefts. “He agreed to show us because they were hidden so well,” Doyle said. Deputies found a trailer, lawnmower and small refrigerator at his house, and some were hidden in the woods. Investigators say they found other items that could be stolen, but are unsure where they came from. “His memory is kinda clouded of what he got and where he got it from,” Doyle said. According to Sheriff Monte Belew, Singleton faces four more counts of burglary and theft. Investigators say most of the stolen property has been returned to its owners.
