JACKSON, Tenn.– A fatal shooting Sunday afternoon in the 2000-block of North Royal Street leaves a neighborhood startled. A 20-year-old man was shot outside a duplex, according to police. He was taken by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Jackson Police Department say it is looking for a maroon Nissan Altima in connection with the shooting. Two suspects inside the car were described as black men in white t-shirts. Officers say they should be considered armed and dangerous. Hours after the shots were fired, neighbors said they were still scared. “Since this shooting, it’s really scary over here and I’m scared almost to go to bed at night,” said Rosi Boyd, who has lived in the area for a decade. Boyd’s sister, Edna Glenn Stot was visiting for the afternoon when the shooting happened.”We’re just sitting there doing dinner and all of a sudden it pops up on the tv and the phones that there’s been a shooting and so that’s very scary,” she said. One resident says this is the first shooting he has known of in the duplexes. He hopes there aren’t more so close to home. “That would be a concern to us if something happened again in regards to gunfire, then I would be really concerned,” said James Ragland who lives a few doors from where the shooting happened. Ragland is a native of Jackson. He said he is ready for the crime to shift. “I wish something could be done to get a handle on what’s causing all the crime,” said Ragland. If you have seen the suspect vehicle or have information that could help investigators, you are asked to call the Major Crimes Bureau of the Jackson Police Department at (731) 425-731-425-8676 or Crime Stoppers at (731)-424-TIPS.
