Mehr to take oath Tuesday

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Newly elected Madison County Sheriff John Mehr will take over Tuesday. He will be sworn in at 10:30 a.m. along with the chief deputy and deputies of the Madison County Sheriff ‘s Department, according to Mehr’s Facebook page. The ceremony will take place on the lawn of the Madison County Courthouse. In the event of rain, the ceremony will take place at the Carl Perkin’s Civic Center. Mehr beat independent Rick Staples in the August election.
