Man accused of inappropriately touching Jackson medical specialist takes plea deal

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A Lexington man accused of inappropriately touching a medical specialist agreed to a plea deal Thursday in Jackson City Court, lowering his charge from sexual battery to assault/offensive touching. Charles James, 69, appeared for his preliminary hearing where he agreed to a plea deal and was sentenced to 6 months suspension and time served. James also was ordered to stay away from the victim. The original charges stemmed from an August incident when police responded to Primary Care Specialists on South Highland Avenue. A blood specialist told police she was inappropriately touched by a patient, police have said. The worker stated that after drawing blood from James, he stood up, grabbed her, touched her breasts and kissed her. She then ran from the room and alerted other clinic personnel.
