HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. — The Henry County Sheriff’s Department is asking for help finding vandals who hit a home over the Labor Day weekend. Brent Knott had almost finished moving Sunday out of his home on Cates Road. He returned home Tuesday to find his back door kicked in. The intruders gained access after breaking through both a lock and deadbolt. “It’s really shaken this neighborhood. Everyone’s concerned,” Knott said. Vandals who broke in caused $20,000 worth of damage. The lead investigator on the case, Adam Jenkins from the Henry County Sheriff’s Dept., thinks the vandals are teenagers. “Right now we’re not ruling anybody out at this point, but by the nature of the crime and how it looks, we’re leaning towards some kind of kids,” Jenkins said. Knott thinks they came in through the woods behind his house. He says he saw kids riding bikes in front of his house days before the move and believes whoever did this watched him move out and felt safe enough to spend time inside. But they did not take anything, including expensive electronics. “They stole nothing, took nothing. It was just cruel destruction,” Knott said. The Henry County Sheriff’s Department is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. “Somebody knows who did this, and anything we can do to leverage the odds better in our favor, we are all for that,” Jenkins said. Knott was planning to sell the home, but he says the home is unsalable until the damage is repaired.
