‘Shoe Challenge’ launches “Walk a Mile” event
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Wo/men’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program, or WRAP, is kicking off its inaugural “Walk a Mile” event. Friday night’s launch party called “The Shoe Challenge” was held at Miss Ollie’s in downtown Jackson. This particular event challenges men to wear a pair of womens shoes and challenge others to commit to walking a mile in women’s shoes. Organizers said it is a fun way to bring attention to a serious problem. “Domestic and sexual violence is not just a crime against a person. It’s a crime against all of us, against our community. What happens to one of us impacts all of us, so it is critical that we work together,” said Daryl Chansuthus, executive director of WRAP. The “Walk a Mile” event will be held Nov. 1 in downtown Jackson.
