Lane College holds 132nd Fall Convocation

EAST JACKSON — Lane College held its 132nd Fall Convocation this morning. The convocation service marks the official beginning of Lane’s new academic school year. This was Dr. Logan Hampton’s first convocation as president of the college. The speaker was Dr. Versie Ray Hamlett, superintendent of the Humboldt Public School System and a member of the Lane College Class of 1994. Hamlett was appointed this summer as superintendent, becoming the first African-American and the first woman superintendent in the history of Humboldt, according to a release from the college.
