Murder warrant issued for Memphis firefighter
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – A 33-year-old woman shot in the parking lot of a Memphis department store has died, and a warrant for first-degree murder against her former boyfriend, a Memphis firefighter, has been issued.
Police said Torhonda Cathey died after she was shot multiple times Monday in the parking lot of a Target in East Memphis.
The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/1uHaCSi ) reported a warrant against Ronald Ellis was issued Tuesday afternoon.
A news release from police said Cathey and Ellis were in a “troubled relationship” previously.
Police said Cathey was sitting in her vehicle Monday when Ellis allegedly approached the driver’s side of the car and shot her. The woman tried to flee but was shot several more times.
