BROWNSVILLE, Tenn-Parents said they are on edge after a 15-year-old student brought a loaded gun to school, Saturday. “This was one student who had an issue with another particular student,” Brownsville Mayor, Bill Rawls said. Police said they suspect the boy brought the .25 caliber into the Mandatory Disciplinary Program at the school. After tips from students claiming he was threatening another student, a school resource officer was able to pull the boy from class and call his parents to conduct a search. That is when police said they found the gun. “I don’t think he was going to do a mass shooting,” Mayor Rawls said. “He was targeting one individual.” Parents said they still fear for their kids’ safety. “It’s just so much happening and a lot of kids get hurt for no reason,” Betsy Brown, a grandparent said. Police cannot release the student’s name because of his age but said he was already on the police’s radar, implicated in a shooting that happened earlier this month. Investigators said they do not have enough evidence at this time to connect the student to any other crime; but officials said they are just glad they were able to catch him before it was too late.
