Union City man charged with soliciting minor for sex

UNION CITY, Tenn. — A Union City man has been arrested after police say he solicited whom he believed to be an underage girl for sex. James Vessels, 50, was arrested Tuesday after he tried to solicit whom he believed to be a 15-year-old girl to meet for sex, according to the Union City Police Department. Vessels also sent a nude photograph of himself and provided an alcoholic beverage intended for the underage girl, according to the incident report. He is charged with solicitation of a minor, soliciting the sexual exploitation of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Vessels is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Union City General Sessions Court.
