HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. — Henry County deputies arrested a woman Wednesday morning accused of wrecking a stolen car then breaking into a local church. Investigators said Christy Lamb wrecked the car across the street from Oak Hill Union Church then kicked in the place of worship’s doors. Church members said they cannot understand why Lamb would steal random items such as food, a 2-liter bottle of soda and angel statues from the church. “Why would you need Hershey’s syrup?” church member Gerald Howard wonders. “I just don’t understand.” Deputies said Lamb was found down the road attempting to steal a bike from a home near the church. Lamb faces two counts of burglary and theft of property charges. “I don’t know if this is a dumb-criminal story or not, but it’s got to be up there,” Sheriff Monte Belew said. The break-in only caused minor damage to the church. “Anything that was valuable she really didn’t take. Only knick-knack stuff,” Howard said. Investigators said charges are pending on the stolen vehicle. Lamb’s bond is set at $15,000. She will be in court Thursday morning.
