Paris police awarded new patrol car for traffic safety efforts

PARIS, Tenn. — The Paris Police Department has been awarded a fully equipped Ford patrol car valued at $54,000, according to a release from the department. The department earned the car by participating in and meeting all the requirements of the Law Enforcement Challenge, a project of the Governor’s Highway Safety Office. The car was formally awarded to the department Wednesday by Brenda H. Jones, West Tennessee Law Enforcement Liaison with the Governor’s Highway Safety Office. The Law Enforcement Challenge is an annual competition designed to recognize and reward the best overall traffic safety programs across the state, according to the release. The winning safety programs combine officer training, public information and enforcement to reduce crashes and injuries within their jurisdictions.
