Break in Bobo case renews hope for missing persons investigators

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — After the remains of Holly Bobo were found Sunday, investigators say they have renewed hope closure will come for other missing-person cases. With nearly 30 years in law enforcement, Captain Mike Holt tells WBBJ Bethany Markowski’s case still haunts him. “Very close to me,” Holt said. “Bethany and my daughter would be the same age.” Markowski was 11 years old when she went missing in March 2001. Her father told officers he waited in the parking lot while she went inside Old Hickory Mall. Markowski never returned. “Just really frustrating we are still at a stand still,” Holt said. Sunday, after hunters found Holly’s remains in Decatur county, Holt said it is hard not to think of Bethany’s case. “It always brings up that emotion. There’s hope there may be some type of closure for us as well,” Holt said. Bethany would be 24 years old now. Anyone with information is asked to call the Jackson Police Department. “Always hopeful someone will have information to help us,” Hold expressed.
