Nashville placed the highest of the Volunteer State’s metro cities included in the analysis, which also looked at Chattanooga, Knoxville and Memphis.
The personal finance social network WalletHub analyzed the 150 largest metropolitan statistical areas in the United States on nine key metrics, including educational attainment, the percentage of workers with jobs in computer, engineering and science fields and the number of enrolled students in the top 200 universities per capita.
Nashville placed 30th in the ranking, with Knoxville not far behind at 34th.
Farther down the list, Memphis placed 137th, tied with Augusta, Georgia.
Chattanooga is listed in the 140th slot.
Ann Arbor, Mich., came in at the top of the list. At the bottom is Beaumont, Texas, in 150th place.
