Men charged in Jackson auto burglaries appear in court

NORTH JACKSON — Two men charged in a string of auto burglaries at Jackson residences were arraigned Monday. Levi Patrick Gray and Devon Blake McLain both were arraigned on multiple auto burglary and theft charges. Jackson police received numerous reports on Sept. 17 of auto burglaries in Bent Willow Subdivision, including thefts of cash and other items. Police obtained video surveillance from several residences that show a white male entering vehicles and going through their contents, according to the report. Police determined the man to be Gray, according to court documents. Gray is charged with four counts of auto burglary and three counts of theft of property under $500, according to court papers. Gray faces unrelated charges of evading arrest and reckless driving stemming from a Sept. 4 arrest, according to the report. Gray’s previous bond on the unrelated charges was revoked, and he was issued an additional $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Also charged in the burglaries is Devon Blake McLain, who is charged with auto burglary and theft of property under $500, according to court papers. McLain was determined to be one of several people picked up by the driver of a car seen in surveillance video picking up numerous people from the scene of the alleged thefts, according to the report. The surveillance video also shows several other people going through vehicles and leaving in the same car as McLain, according to court papers. McLain is being held on $3,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 9.
