Car chase ends with drug charges

BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. – What started out as a traffic stop turned into a chase, Saturday afternoon. According to Benton County Sheriff Kenny Christopher, Shanon Garrett, who also goes by the last name of Starnes, led a trooper on a two to three mile chase. Sheriff Christopher said the trooper initially tried to stop Garrett because she was not wearing her seat belt. He, along with Benton County deputies and Camden Police officers, pulled her over at 3:48 p.m. A search of her vehicle turned up meth and drug paraphernalia, according to officers. Garrett is now charged with drug possession and reckless driving. She is scheduled to be formally charged, Wednesday, at 9 a.m.
