Man injured by taser out of hospital, behind bars

NORTH JACKSON, Tenn. — Madison County jailers say Sontos Holmes is out of a Memphis hospital and in their custody. Until Thursday night, Holmes’ family said they didn’t even know where he was being treated, after he was taken by medical helicopter from Jackson, Tuesday night. But after speaking with him from the Madison County Jail, Thursday night, they’ve had many of their questions answered. According to Jackson police, Holmes sustained serious injuries to his eye and face Tuesday night. Officers say he was tased while trying to jump this fence while running from police. “He was bloody, his eye was hanging out,” Janet Holmes said. “He had blood coming out of his head and his nose.” In the days that past, Holme’s family says Jackson police never return their calls asking for updates on his condition or whereabouts. The department says its priority was to make sure Holmes received proper care. Holmes’ daughter says she just wants her father to make it through all this. “I hope that he’s alright,” Morgan Douglas said. “That he still has his eye, that he’s OK.” According to Jackson police, they are investigation whether the officer who tased Holmes followed procedure. They say he has been charged with evading arrest from the Tuesday incident. Officers tell us they were trying to arrest him in the first place, due to three outstanding warrants
