Neighborhood reacts to teen shot by Sheriff’s Deputy

THREE WAY, Tenn. — Neighbors speak out about of the fatally wounded suspect in Fridays deputy involved shooting in Three Way. They say this has shaken up their close knit neighborhood. According to the TBI, 18-year-old Dillion McGee of Three Way was shot dead. “It was a neighbor down the road,” Neighbor Chrissa Blankenship said. “He was a young one. That was shocking in and of itself.” Neighbors say McGee seemed quiet, rarely seen around their Three Way neighborhood where he lived with his family. But the TBI says McGee was a wanted man. Warrants had been issued Friday morning for his arrest on counts of assault, aggravated robbery, and false imprisonment. Investigators say McGee was sitting in his car in the parking lot of the Maverick gas station with 19-year-old Robert Aspiranti. Deputies say when they approached the two to talk about an “ongoing investigation” McGee took off, almost running over an unnamed deputy who opened fire. The TBI won’t say what that investigation involves. “If someone is trying to run over you, it’s self defense,” Blankenship said. “As law enforcement they’re armed for a reason.” Witnesses and those who live in the area say they just want answers. “It’s just such a sad waste of such a young life.” Neighbor Linda Glenn said. The TBI has been asked to step in by Madison County Sheriff John Mehr, who calls it a joint investigation. The Madison County Sheriff Office confirms deputies arrested Aspiranti on the scene Friday and he is currently being held at the Madison County Jail. Investigators did not say what charges he may face.
