NORTH JACKSON — West Tennessee schools on Tuesday took part in National PrepareAthon! Day. Students went through a number of drills including tornado, fire, flood and winter storm. Local emergency responders helped with the event, also helping businesses prepare. Officials say it is best to have students prepared for many of the “worst case scenarios.” “It’s so important to do the safety drills because it gives students the opportunity to prepare for adverse weather situations and that they don’t have to be in panic, but there is a process for being in safe positions when we have bad weather,” said Tina Williams with the Jackson-Madison County School System.
