‘Flipping the switch’ on breast cancer awareness

WEST JACKSON — The American Cancer Society and the Old Hickory Mall team up to “Flip the Switch” on Breast Cancer Awareness. Tuesday night, survivors and supporters of breast cancer awareness flipped the switch, turning the outside lights pink at the Old Hickory Mall. Pink is the color of breast cancer awareness, which is observed throughout the month of October. Organizers stress the importance of getting a regular checkup. “I just want you to think, ‘maybe I should have this checked’ or ‘did I do my monthly check,'” said Bethany Herr, breast cancer survivor. “Monthly self-breast exams is very important, and if you ever notice a change, check it out. Don’t ever assume that it’s normal.” Also at the ceremony was a hot-pink Camaro from Serra Chevrolet.
